Gregory Allen, MSW, LCSW

Psychotherapist

Gregory Allen was born and raised in the Hudson Valley region of New York state.  He graduated from Adelphi University School of Social Work in 1984 with a Master's of Social Work degree.    Gregory has a wide variety of clinical experience.  He has worked in a psychiatric hospital with schizophrenic and geriatric clients, he worked with troubled youth as the director of therapeutic foster homes, and he performed individual and couples counseling with Kaiser Permanente where he also developed and oversaw their Intensive Out Patient Program.  Gregory has experience with college students through time spent working with UNC Student Health Services, he has run several DBT Groups at a Day Treatment Center, and he has worked for a large mental health company as their Clinical Director, performing individual therapy and supervising therapists working toward their licensure.  Gregory has been interested in depth psychology for over thirty years and participated in an intensive Jungian training program for nine years.  He applies that theory in the private practice he established in 1992.

Gregory moved to Chapel Hill with his wife 25 years ago.  They have three children, one of which is still home keeping him busy with sports and Boy Scouts.  Gregory likes to travel, run, backpack, play darts and work in the yard.
